On this day June 21, 1975, West Indies won the very first ICC World Cup tournament. First ICC World Cup final played between West Indies vs Australia at Lord’s, London. West Indies beat Australia by 17 runs and claim their first title in front if 26,000 attendance.

Australia won the toss and elected to field first. West Indies scored 291 for 8, Player of The Match Clive Lloyd hit 102 off only 85 balls and became the first player to score century in world cup final.

Australian Gary Gilmour took 5 wickets and he became the first bowler to take 5 wicket haul in world cup. Australia scored only 274 runs, captain Ian Chappell hit 62 runs. Keith Boyce took 4 wickets. their were 5 run outs in Australian innings. This were the most run outs in an ODI’s innings and in the ICC world Cup match. West Indies won again ICC World Cup in 1979.
