1911, RMS Titanic launched in Belfast
On this day May 31, 1911,RMS Titanic launched at 12:15 PM in Belfast. The presence of Lord Pirrie, J. Pierpont Morgan, J. Bruce Ismay and 100,000 onlookers. Tallow and twenty-two tons of soap were spread on the slipway to lubricate the ship’s passage into the River Lagan. Titanic was then the largest shipyard in the world. In April 10, 1912 the RMS Titanic sets sail from Southampton, England to New York, on its first and last voyage, with approximately 2,223 passengers and crew. In April 15, 1912, Titanic Sinks after hitting an iceberg in North Atlantic Ocean.
