2000, Sir Arthur C. Clarke is Knighted
On this day during on May 26, 2000, Sir Arthur Charles Clarke was knighted “for services to literature” at a ceremony in Colombo. The award of a knighthood has been announced in the 1998 New Year Honours list, and two years after the title was conferred on him.
