Further, it became the highest successful chase by Sri Lanka in Test. However, it also the highest successful run chase by any team in a Test in Asia.

Zimbabwe captain Cremer won the toss and elected to bat first. Zimbabwe scored 356 and 377 runs in both innings. Craig Ervine scored 160 runs in 1st innings and Sikandar Raza scored 127 runs in 2nd innings and it was his maiden Test century. Meanwhile, Rangana Herath took 5 and 6 wickets in both innings.

Sri Lanka scored 349 and 391 runs in both innings. Upul Tharanga scored 71 runs and Niroshan Dickwella scored 81 runs. Graeme Cremer took 5 and 4 wickets in both innings.

Asela Gunaratne became the Player of The Match. Sri Lanka chased down 388 and won by 4 wickets.

Further, in this test match both team set few records. Dinesh Chandimal became the 15th Sri lanka test captain and won his first test match. Player of The Series Rangana Herath (SL) became the fifth bowler to take 30 five-wicket hauls in Test with his 2 five-wicket hauls.

Graeme Cremer (Zim) took his first five-wicket haul and he becoming the first captain of Zimbabwe to take one in Test. Zimbabwe’s score of 344 runs on day 1, It was most runs they had made in a single day of a Test.

Sri Lankan previous highest successful run chase was 352 runs against South Africa in 2006.
