2000, Sir Arthur C. Clarke is Knighted
On this day May 26, 2000, Sir Arthur Charles Clarke is knighted “for services to literature” at a ceremony in Colombo.
The award of a knighthood has been announced in 1998 New Year Honours list and two years after the title was conferred on him.
However, Clarke’s health did not allow him to travel to London to receive the latter honor personally from the Queen, so the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka invested “Clarke” as a Knight Bachelor at a ceremony in Colombo.
